A judge in New York has recommended delivering a blow to the liquidator of The Containership Company (TCC) in a long-simmering dispute with shippers.

US Bankruptcy Judge James Garrity ruled that shippers sued by TCC liquidator Jorgen Hauschildt were excused from their obligation to tender cargoes when the Danish-Norwegian operator ended its trans-Pacific service in 2011.

There were four voyages left to be carried out when TCC ended the liner service and filed for bankruptcy.
