The changing containership alliance landscape could provide Maersk Line with a short-term boost, says the company’s chief executive Soren Skou.

Speaking on the back of an “unsatisfactory” first quarter result, Skou told TradeWinds Maersk’s stable cooperation with MSC through the 2M alliance could prove to be an advantage until the situation with other companies clears out.

He said: “We will be doing our third revision of the 2M network this year so we provide stability and efficiency to our customers at a time when the other alliances will be reshuffling so we hope we can benefit a little bit from that.”
