Carnival is disputing a recent fine by authorities in Australia over an alleged infringement of new low sulphur fuel rules during a recent port visit.

The cruise giant, who operates P&O Cruises, contends that its Pacific Jewel (built 1988) did not breach the new regulation while at berth in Sydney Harbour.

The New South Wales (NSW) Environment Protection Authority (EPA) fined the cruise giant AUD 15,000 ($10,800) for the 26 February 2016 incident.
