Norwegian ro-pax group Fjord Line has reduced red ink in the first quarter as profit rose.

The company said the net loss to 31 March was NOK 79.25m ($9.5m), from NOK 98.65m in 2015.

Revenue grew to NOK 149.47m from NOK 132.54m, but operating expenses were still higher than this at NOK 181.53m, against NOK 178.03m the year before.

The owner said it carried 182,021 passengers, compared to 140,302 in the same quarter of 2015.
