Norwegian container freight exchange Xeneta has revealed a small boost to short-term rates for owners.

Drawing on its database of more than 12m contracted ocean freight rates, it said levels on key routes from Asia to northern Europe are up 99% since hitting a low in March.

CEO Patrik Berglund said: “There were some declines in average prices for shipping 40-foot (feu) containers through May, but generally speaking the market is starting to look a little better for the carriers as we enter Q3.”
