HMM in talks to join 2M alliance

Restructuring Korean owner gives up on joining compatriot Hanjin in rival containership group.

Restructuring Korean owner Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) has revealed it is in talks to join the 2M vessel-sharing alliance formed by Maersk Line and Mediterranean Shipping Co (MSC).

The move seems to draw a line under its efforts to become part of The Alliance, the new rival to 2M and Ocean Alliance formed this year by the big Japanese lines and its domestic rival Hanjin Shipping, among others.
