Korea's Hanjin Shipping is to start returning expensive chartered ships as it seeks to restructure.

One vessel will go back to its owner from next month as it terminates deals, following five that are leaving the fleet in the first half. Another five will follow in the second half of the year.

In total, the company will return 20 boxships of a combined 93,608 teu and 18 bulkers by the end of 2017.
