France's CMA CGM has postponed delivery of "certain vessels" as it tackles the industry downturn.

The boxship line said it was responding to the industry's difficulties by pushing back ships until 2017.

It is also reducing its capital expenditure commitments.

Clarksons lists a 14,000-teu vessel due from Hyundai this year, as well as three 2,500-teu units arriving from Jinhai Heavy in China.

Consultant Alphaliner said last month that CMA CGM could be delaying deliveries of three 10,900-teu units at China Shipbuilding Industry Corp (CSIC) to 2017.
