Seadrill hires new CFO

John Fredriksen’s Seadrill has drafted in Esa Ikaheimonen as its new CFO to fill a void created by the departure of Trond Brandsrud last year.

Forty-five-year-old Ikaheimonen joins Oslo-listed Seadrill having spent much of his career with Shell.

In a statement Seadrill says the father of three spent nearly 20 years with the oil major, including a period as vice president of finance in both Africa and the Middle-East.

Since early 2009 Ikaheimonen has been CFO of Finnish offshore consulting and engineering outfit, Poyry, a post he resigned yesterday. He will get behind his new desk for the first time during the second half of this year.

Seadrill, which will take up a second listing in New York this month, posted a profit of $400m in the fourth quarter to push its full-year bottom line up to $1.3bn.

Brandsrud quit as CFO of Seadrill in October 2009 to take up the same post at Norwegian conglomerate Aker.
