An appeal has failed to overturn a UK legal decision that means shipowners may have to pay twice for fuel from the failed OW Bunker group.

The English Court of Appeal yesterday rejected an appeal to a July decision over the 75,000-dwt products tanker Res Cogitans (built 2004), which trades in the fleet of Athens-based Product Shipping & Trading (PST).

The appellant, linked to the Oceanbulk group of Petros Pappas, was attempting to overturn a decision that the UK Sales of Goods Act does not apply to bunkers that have been consumed.
