Norway’s Island Offshore has said it is stacking more ships to combat the downturn in the North Sea sector.

It currently has 11 of its 28 vessels in layup, but this could rise to 14 in coming months, or 50% of the fleet.

Five units are cold-stacked and will remain so over the winter pending firm contract work or the resolution of tenders, it said.
