Broker Westshore is forecasting 20 more platform supply ships (PSVs) will be stacked in the North Sea sector this year.

The company believes that offshore activity will not be able to support the number of vessels coming off term contracts.

There are already 102 PSVs laid up in the sector in a dire market.

"In the summer of 2016 as vessels came off term contract the tendency was to try the spot market for a period before concluding it wasn’t profitable to remain there and subsequently heading into layup," Westshore said.
