Two elderly semi-submersible offshore drilling rigs have been arrested in Singapore, TradeWinds has learnt.

The Songa Mercur (built 1990) and the Songa Venus (built 1975) were arrested by law firm Haridass Ho & Partners late last week.

Court documents show that the two Marshall Islands-flagged semi-subs are currently alongside at the shipyard of Keppel FELS.

The exact reasons for the detentions were unclear as TradeWinds went to press, but are usually related to unpaid bills for contractors or banks.
