Singapore's Ezra Holdings has been roped into a civil action filed by US shipbuilder VT Halter Marine against its joint venture EMAS Chiyoda Subsea (ECS).
The company said the summons in a case at the US district court in Mississippi relates to the breach of a loan agreement by ECS and the guarantee provided by Ezra.
Halter Marine filed the suit last month against ECS, claiming $3.3m.
