Anchor-handler rates rising

Steady demand in the North Sea has pushed up earnings.

The 338-bp Normand Prosper (built 2010) was fixed at £35,000 per day by BP for a two-week rig move.

This is up from £20,000 for the last-done deal. Rates had been as high as £37,000 earlier in the week, up from £12,000 last week.

Two ships were free in Norway and three in the UK on Friday.

PSVs were not faring as well, with growing tonnage availability in the UK bringing rates down to £6,000 from £16,000 last week.

Seven ships were free there, but Norway remained sold out, with rates at NOK 150,000.
