Anchor-handler rates are coming under pressure in the North Sea as fixture levels drop off.

Broker Westshore said that so far in May, only 22 spot deals have been fixed, half the number booked in April.

This has led to daily earnings coming down from £12,000 earlier in May to £6,500 ($8,400) now.

Six ships out of a working fleet of 17 are free in Norway, plus four of 21 in the UK, with 37 in layup.
