A spike in anchor-handler (AHTS) rates in the North Sea has proved short-lived as tonnage built up in ports.

Brokers reported the 284-dwt Havila Venus (built 2009) booked at £15,000 ($19,500) per day for various duties over two weeks by Transocean.

This compares to £60,000 last week as ships ran short.

A total of 10 units from a working fleet of 38 ships were open on Tuesday, however, in the UK and Norway after many returned to port as charters ended.
