US owner Weeks Marine is paying $60m for a new dredger.

Brokers said the 8,000-gt cutter-suction vessel will be delivered in December next year from C&C Marine of Louisiana.

Local media said the ship is needed due to the increased demand for coastal restoration.

The vessel will be named JS Chatry after senior vice president J Stephen Chatry.

Weeks already operates dredgers and tugs.
