Keppel Corp has slashed 20,000 jobs from its offshore workforce in less than two years, highlighting the impact the crisis has had on the flagship Singapore rig builder.

Chief executive Loh Chin Hua, speaking to analysts after its third quarter results, said the workforce has gone from 36,000 at the start of 2015 to just 16,000 today.

He said Keppel O&M will continue its efforts to optimise operations and manage costs tightly even as it builds new capabilities and expands into new markets.
