Statoil has selected Singapore’s Sembcorp Marine to build the FPSO for its Johan Castberg field in the Barents Sea.
The two companies have just signed a letter of intent for the contract, which covers the vessle’s hull and living quarters and is worth $490m.
Statoil said the contract will be signed at the final investment decision which is scheduled to take place before Christmas.
