A Mediterranea di Navigazione-owned oil and chemical tanker will be sent to the US Gulf of Mexico in mid-October to provide bunkering services off Texas and Louisiana.

Danish supplier Bunker One said it will employ the 18,818-dwt Barbarica (built 2008) in an "essential refueling solution" that will allow ships to avoid unnecessary port calls.

Barbarica, designed for ship-to-ship and offshore bunkering, will refuel ships in the Galveston Offshore, South Sabine Pass, Southwest Pass and Louisiana Offshore Oil Port lightering areas.
