The Singapore-listed company said the deal includes an option for Perdana to acquire a second pair of identicial vessels.

The first two barges will be the first-of-its-kind in Malaysia when delivered and the largest accommodation vessels built by Nam Cheong.

Both of the vessels are being built at one of Nam Cheong’s subcontracted yards in China with delivery due in 2016.

The ABS-classed barges will measure 123 metres in length and have accommodation capacity for around 500 workers.
