Fredriksen’s Hemen Holding acquired 2.7 million shares at $12.40 each on 5 December, Seadrill told investors today.
The deal lifts the magnate’s Seadrill holding to 117,797,583 shares, equal to a 23.89% slice of the company.
Analysts explain the move comes at a time when Seadrill stock has been suffering in the wake of a downturn in the oil price and a culling of its dividend.
