Mark Gibson will provide operational leadership and management to achieve business and financial targets, Swissco said.
The 57-year-old has more than 37 years of experience in the offshore drilling industry.
He has also worked with Atwood Management, Pacific Drilling, Songa Offshore and Transocean.
Less than a year ago, Singapore-listed Swissco invested more than $220m to acquire compatriot SEE, a rig owner.
In a separate announcement Swissco said 48-year-old Tan Wei Min will take over as head of marketing of its drilling division.
