Norway’s design house Marin Teknikk said a firm ship will be built at China Merchants Heavy Industry (Shenzhen) (CMHI) for delivery mid-2017.
Two optional ships could follow at the end of 2017 and the middle of 2018.
The MT6023 multipurpose diving support and construction units (MSV) will have a length of 111 metres, with accommodation for 120 people and two cranes.
They have depth capability of 3,000 metres through remote-operated submarines.
