Statoil has cancelled a charter contract for a Songa Offshore drilling rig four months ahead of schedule due to the poor state of the market.
The Norwegian state-owned oil major had previously notified Songa Offshore that the semi-submersible rig would be suspended for a period.
Statoil added that it had “tried to find other assignments for the rig after the suspension period and up to the expiration of contract”.
