A high-profile conman who swindled Allseas Group out of £73m ($105.8m) has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Luis Nobre was found guilty at Southwark Crown Court in London although he initially denied several counts of acquiring and transferring criminal property.

As TradeWinds reported last September, he pretended to be an international financier with links to the Vatican.

At the time of the fraud, Allseas was seeking to raise cash in order to fund a newbuilding.
