Petrobras is expected to confirm Pedro Parente as its new chief executive at a board meeting later on Monday.

Late last week the former Brazilian energy minister was appointed to the post by Brazil’s interim president Michel Temer.

If confirmed, Parente will become the third CEO of the company in 16 months taking over from the most recent incumbent Aldemir Bendine.

Petrobras, which is at the centre of a huge corruption scandal that has rocked Brazilian politics, aims to cut 12,000 jobs by 2020 to regain its competitiveness.
