Maersk Supply Service notched the second and third sales out of 20 planned for its offshore supply vessel fleet amid the steep downturn in the offshore energy market.
The Jorn Madsen-led company announced the sale of the 15,609-bhp Maersk Puncher (built 1992) and the 14,280 Maersk Provider (built 1991), two anchor handling tug supply (AHTS) vessels, to Turkey’s Karadeniz Energy.
A Maersk representative did not provide a price, but brokers say an AHTS vessels of that vintage could fetch between $2m and $3m in the current market.
