The continuing build-up of platform supply vessels (PSVs) in North Sea ports has pushed rates back to year-low levels.
Brokers reported Swire Pacific Offshore’s 5,300-dwt Pacific Legend (built 2014) fixed by BP at £2,500 ($3,200) for a cargo run, blaming the high availability of ships.
Two other PSVs were reported booked at £2,750 and £2,800, with Norwegian levels at NOK 40,000.
In June 2015, rates went below £2,500 on one fixture out of Norway at NOK 19,500, then equating to about £1,700 per day.
