P&O Ferries is to halt the shipment of live calves from Scotland over welfare concerns.
The company is stopping the traffic from Cairnryan to Larne in Northern Ireland, from where they head to Spain and Italy for veal.
The Guardian reported that a BBC Scotland investigation had raised questions about the animals' treatment.
It said two to three-week-old calves were travelling in trucks for up to six days.
