A Nigerian chemical tanker has been seized by pirates off the coast of Benin in West Africa.
Reports said contact was lost with the 12,200-dwt Emocean (built 2007) on 20 August, 50 miles from Cotonou, after it arrived from Port Harcourt in Nigeria.
The IMB piracy reporting centre said a vessel was boarded by 12 armed pirates during ship-to-ship transfer operations
The gunmen have sailed the ship to an unknown location.
