A leading Egyptian owner may be forced to pay stiff fines in the US following an investigation that found a modified oily water separator onboard one of its bulkers.
It is the second time that the US Coast Guard has accused National Navigation Company (NNC) and the 70,000-dwt Wadi Al Arish (built 1994) of violating pollution laws by illegally discharging oily waste directly overboard.
