Dutch yard Royal IHC has won a contract to build a dredger for Uruguay’s port authority ANP.

The 4,200-cbm trailing suction hopper unit will be handed over in January, 2018.

IHC said project management will be carried out by its Rio office.

“The construction and commissioning of the vessel will take place in Uruguay,” it added.

CEO Dave Vander Heyde said: “IHC is honoured to contribute to the government of Uruguay’s ambition to develop its shipbuilding industry, by sharing knowledge, providing training and upgrading a local construction facility.”
