GoodBulk confirms panamax bulker deal
John Michael Radziwill-controlled venture expects to take delivery of ship in the summer.
GoodBulk has made its first acquisition since listing on the Norwegian over-the-counter (N-OTC) market in March.
The John Michael Radziwill-backed venture says it has agreed to acquire a 2007-built panamax bulker built by Universal Shipyard in Japan.
The identity of the seller and the name of 75,000-dwt vessel was not disclosed, nor was the price being paid for the ship.
TradeWinds reported in early April that the ship was the Abo Shoten-controlled Bariloche and that it had been sold for $13.8m.
GoodBulk expects to finance the acquisition with available cash on its balance sheet and its credit facility. The ship is due to be delivered by the summer.
The acquisition will lift the GoodBulk fleet to ten vessels consisting of seven capesizes, a single panamax, one ultramax, and a supramax.
Separately, GoodBulk confirmed that it has taken delivery of the 55,000-dwt Aquakula (built 2007) which was acquired in February.
The vessel is expected to be employed in the spot market through the CTM Supramax Revenue Sharing Agreement (RSA).
