The recycling standards applied to vessels sold for “green” demolition at beaching yards with environmental certification have again come under scrutiny after the sale of two suezmax tankers — the 153,000-dwt Gener8 Phoenix and 159,000-dwt Gener8 Horn (both built 1999).
The sales were keenly watched in the market as observers believed they might secure prices of more than $400 per ldt.
