Libera Corporation of Japan has swooped for series of car carriers which were sold off as part of the run-down of United Ocean.

The 40-strong United Ocean fleet sale has been completed in the past week with the disposal of its last supramax bulker, the 51,800-dwt Ocean Friend (built 2009).

While the piecemeal distribution of the bankrupt owner’s dry cargo fleet has been a visible process, the sale of a series of five car carriers has slipped below the radar.
