Vietnam's Gemadept Shipping has acquired its biggest boxship in a deal with Japan's Nissen Kaiun.

It paid a reported $7.5m for the 1,200-teu Sinar Buton (built 2008), Alphaliner reported.

The ship has been renamed Green Pacific under the Vietnamese flag.

It is expected to be deployed on the company's Vietnam-Hong Kong-Taiwan services.

The vessel is now the biggest in Gemadept's fleet.
