South Korean owner Hyundai Glovis is selling its oldest large bulker for demolition at a very firm price.
Sources say the 208,000-dwt Alexander Carl (built 1993) has gone to a cash buyer for $434 per ldt or $10.6m.
The price could indicate that the deal has been struck some time ago and is only surfacing now.
The premium value was helped as the bulker has been sold to Pakistan, which does not take tankers.
