Ugland sheds oldie

Norway’s JJ Ugland has offloaded one of its oldest barges.

An Ugland barge

The move comes after the company bought the seven-barge fleet of Viking Supply Ships in January.

Ugland said the 1975-built UR 161 has gone to be used for coal storage in the port of Riga, Latvia.

The Norwegian owner already had 19 barges, plus two newbuildings due this year.
