It has sent the 147,000-dwt Globe Unity (built 1991) to be chopped up in Bangladesh six months after the ship was thought to be leaving the market.
Brokers place a $420 per ldt figure on the deal, meaning a $10.54m cheque for the owner.
The vessel was purchased as the tanker Butron along with the sistership Arteaga (built 1990) from Ondimar of Spain for some $26m each in 2007.
