New York-listed Danaos has sent the3,900-teu Hope (built 1989) to be cut up in India.

Brokers and cash buyers say the shipfetched between $405 and $408 per ldt.

This works out at a little over $8m forDanaos.

Data from vesselsvalue.com says the ownerwill be left with a fleet of 60 vessels worth over $2bn charter-free.

According to Clarksons, Danaos still hasone ship built in the 1980s in its fleet, alongside seven which began trading duringthe early 1990s.
