A contract will be signed by the end of this year. Construction will start early in 2014.

Aker Arctic Technology is designing the ship together with ILS.

The icebreaker will be able to move continuously through ice up to 1.6m thick.

It will be powered by diesel and LNG.

The yard is being taken over by Russia's United Shipbuilding Corporation, which is buying the 50% it doesn't own from the troubled STX group of Korea.
