February saw orders for 47 ships of 1.9mgt reported, according to statistics from the Japan Ship Exporters’ Association (JSEA).
The figures were over nine times that of the corresponding period last year when orders for only five ships were declared.
With the exception of one order, for an LNG carrier, the rest of the contracts placed were for a variety of dry bulk tonnage.
