Ulstein into new territory

Ulstein has broken new ground in securing a monohull accommodation vessel design contract.

Subsidiary Ulstein Sea of Solutions will draw up the blueprints for a vessel named CASCO Enabler for owner CASCO Offshore.

Delivery of the ship is set for the fourth quarter of 2016, the designer said in a statement. No financial details were disclosed.

Attempts to reach Ulstein Sea of Solutions representatives for comment on the deal were unsuccessful at the time of writing.

Last week Norwegian parent Ulstein Group posted an improved annual profit, helped by the sale of a PSV fleet to Nordic American Offshore and a strong showing from its ship design division

Privately owned Ulstein saw an operating income of NOK 2.3bn ($385m) with an operating profit of NOK 318m ($53.3m) last year — a 39.4% profit rise from 2012.

It has more than 40 vessels on order at various builders globally, while six of those are for its facility in Ulsteinvik, Norway.
