Bangkok-listed Thoresen has bought the 56,000-dwt Orient Rose (Built 2006) from OMC Shipping, brokers report.

A price of $22m is believed to have been paid for the Mitsui-built bulker.

Tuesday was a public holiday in Singapore and no one was available from the company to confirm or deny the deal.

Thoresen has been busy building up its fleet over the past six months.

In March is moved for three supramaxes in a $70m en bloc deal, acquiring the 55,695-dwt Top Harmony and Top Freedom (both built 2005) and the 55,710-dwt Top Island (built 2006).

In November last year Thoresen bought the 55,862-dwt Medi Chennai (built 2006) for a price said to have been below $20m.

Two months later it acquired the 56,023-dwt Ikan Serong (built 2006) for what it described as “an attractive market price” thought to be close to $23m.
