Swiss deal for Navios cape

SwissMarine has returned to the capesize period market to take in a Navios vessel.

SwissMarine has chartered the 169,000-dwt Navios Stellar (built 2009) on a six to nine month contract, the Baltic Exchange reports today.

A rate of $20,000 daily has been placed on the deal, which is almost double the present spot market level.

The charter came to light at the end of a week in which capsize spot rates have improved by a fraction to $11,000 daily.

The Navios Stellar is one of 10 capesize bulkers in the fleet of New York listed Navios Maritime Holdings.

SwissMarine has been active in the capesize period market in the past few weeks.

Today it also chartered the 65,700-dwt Irfon (built 1996) for seven to nine months at $18,500 daily, the Baltic says.

Its fixtures include a five year contract worth $25,250 per day for the 180,600-dwt Trinity Star (built 2011).
