Russia's government said the company had signed an agreement with Gazprom to invest in the Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center (FESRC) consortium, which is constructing Zvezda.
Gazprombank and Rosneft own 75%, with Sovcomflot also involved.
A working group is to define the shareholder structure of the new consortium.
Russian president Vladimir Putin asked Novatek last week if it would be prepared to invest in Zvezda.
