TradeWinds understands the three ships, which SHI’s statement priced at $146.7m each, are pioneering Arc7 MR tankers for use in the Russian Arctic.
The tankers are said to have been ordered against long-term charters with domestic oil giant Gazprom Neft.
The vessels are due for delivery by 31 October 2016.
SHI said the vessels are for “a European owner” and SCF has yet to make a formal announcement on the vessels.
