Polsteam sheds panamax

Polish Steamship (Polsteam) has scrapped its third vessel in quick succession with the disposal of a panamax bulk carrier.

It has sent the 73,500-dwt Orleta Lwowskie (built 1991) to be cut up in India, it is claimed.

A source at Polsteam confirms the panamax has been committed for sale.

He declines to disclose any details connected to the price, which cash buyer GMS places at a “fantastic” $497 per ldt.

It explains the Danish build and the fact the ship carried soft grain cargoes leaving its hold in excellent condition aided the price.

The deal marks the third disposal in as many months for the owner, GMS says.

Brokers record it has also scrapped the 73,500-dwt Armia Krajowa (built 1991) this year.

Polsteam boasts a fleet of just over 50 bulkers worth north of $700m, VesselsValue.com says.
